Inspiring commissions from a wide range of performers and ensembles, Sarah Bassingthwaighte has composed chamber music for every orchestral instrument, as well as electronic and electro-acoustic music. Her works have been premiered by members of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, the Seattle Opera Orchestra, Affinity Chamber Players, Sorelle, Max Aronoff Viola Institute, among many others. She collaborates with other musicians frequently in the commission of new works from composers worldwide, and is working also to encourage young high-school aged composers to submit their work for performance and recording.
